WWE Elimination Chamber 2025 will definitely go down in history as the Pay-per-view with the most shocking events in the history of the Elimination Chamber. If you think that the 2025 Royal Rumble was full of surprises, just wait till you hear all the shocking details that took place at the Elimination Chamber this past Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Remember how in my previous article The Unexpected Twists In WWE Royal Rumble 2025 I mentioned that the WWE Universe and most viewers at home had so many expectations for the Royal Rumble but got something different and unexpected? Well, this time around, there weren’t many expectations but trust WWE to come prepared.
Elimination Chamber 2025 took so many shocking turns —I’m talking extremely jaw-dropping shocking turns that I’m pretty certain that come five or ten years later, it’ll still be remembered for those “shocks.” Without further ado, let’s get right into it, shall we?
The Women’s Elimination Chamber Match
What better way to kick off the show than with the Women’s Chamber Match? This particular match kicked off with total chaos. In this match, the winner will go on to WrestleMania to face either Rhea Ripley or Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s Title. The match which was scheduled to happen between these six contenders; Liv Morgan, Bianca Belair, Bayley, Alexa Bliss, Roxanne Perez, and Naomi started with four contenders out of the six mentioned entering into the chamber pods, leaving Naomi and Morgan to open the match.
Pardon me, but I’m going to take you back a little bit —to the onus of the matter. So, Jade Cargill’s much anticipated appearance at the Rumble didn’t happen, however, two weeks after the Rumble— on the February 14 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis called the then WWE Women’s Tag-Team Champions Naomi and Belair into his office to give them a feedback on who might have attacked Cargill (Cargill used to be one-half of the Women’s Tag-Team Champions before she was attacked and Belair had to choose Naomi as her replacement).
In his office, Aldis played a footage that captured the current Women’s Tag-Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez leaving the arena the night that Cargill was attacked. Now, for clarity purposes, Morgan and Raquel are both Raw superstars who had no business being on SmackDown that day, and since both women are part of the “Judgement Day” (one of the most chaotic group in WWE) it’s only fitting to believe that they had something to do with Cargill’s attack.
It’s worth knowing that right from the day Cargill was attacked majority of the WWE Universe pointed to Naomi as the culprit but when the clip of Morgan and Raquel surfaced, Naomi’s joy at finally being vindicated was not hidden. In the bid to take their revenge on Morgan and Raquel for supposedly attacking Cargill, Belair and Naomi lost their titles to them.
Back to the Women’s Chamber match. Now, here’s where things got super interesting. Few seconds after the bell rang, Cargill’s entrance song was heard and the whole stadium lit up the second Cargill surfaced and began making the super angry walk into the chamber. There was no mistaking the terrified look on Morgan’s face upon seeing Cargill’s fast strides but Naomi’s facial expression was just one of surprise because she wasn’t expecting Cargill. She even had to steal glances at Belair to see if Belair was aware that Cargill will show up at the chamber.
To most people’s surprise, Cargill who barged into the cage and made straight to where a terrified Morgan was pleading, made a detour to Naomi in a split second and pounced on her real good. The amount of heavy artillery rained on Naomi by Cargill is one that Naomi has never experienced in her entire career as a WWE superstar.
The beating left Naomi unable to participate in the chamber match and was ultimately eliminated.
Cargill’s action at the chamber has left fans who initially predicted Naomi as the culprit but had to double-check following the Morgan and Raquel footage fully satisfied with their prediction. Also, despite the early commotion, Belair stayed strong to the end and eventually won the Women’s Elimination Chamber match.
Randy Orton’s Appearance At Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn’s Match
This particular scene happened after the “Unsanctioned Match” between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn ended with Owens defeating Zayn after delivering a powerbomb on the apron to Zayn.
After picking up the victory over Zayn, rather than leave the arena with the security officials who came down to the ring to accompany him out, Kevin suddenly turned back to go attack an already unconscious Zayn. He beat up the security officials for standing in his way and trying to stop him. After dealing with the officials, Owens went on to raise the mats covering the concrete —it was pretty clear what Kevin’s intentions were (he wanted to finish off Zayn on the exposed concrete) but before he could get to it, Randy Orton’s entrance song hit our ears.
In case you’re wondering what Randy was doing at the Elimination Chamber let me walk you down memory lane a bit. It all started after Cody Rhodes teamed with Roman Reigns at the October 5, 2024 WWE Bad Blood. Kevin, who couldn’t wrap his head around Cody’s decision to join hands with their enemy went from giving Cody the cold shoulder to eventually fighting him. When Randy tried to play the peacemaker there was a misunderstanding (Owens accidentally hit Randy and Randy retaliated in a bid to calm Owens down but Owens took it that Randy picked sides with Cody).
The match between Kevin Owens and Randy Orton which was scheduled to take place at WWE Crown Jewel on November 2, 2024 at Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, never happened because no sooner had Randy entered the ring did Owens attack him with a steel chair. The two threw hands at each other to the extent that Raw General Manager Adam Pearce caught an RKO from Randy.
The following week on the November 8 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Randy called Owens out for a continuation of their Crown Jewel brawl but in the middle of their fight Kevin Owens hit Randy Orton with a piledriver. The following day, WWE shared an update on Randy’s condition on X: “Randy Orton has been diagnosed with a cervical cord neurapraxia.”
Randy’s appearance at the Elimination Chamber shocked the hell out of Kevin because he thought he ended Randy’s career with that Piledriver. I don’t have to give a detailed description of what went down upon Randy’s appearance but let’s just say that if it weren’t for the interference of the security officials, the news that Owens is suffering from a broken skull courtesy of Randy would have made headlines by now.
John Cena Sold His Soul To The Rock
I had to save the best for last because how this year’s Elimination Chamber ended was not in anybody’s bingo card. Imagine over 20 years of “Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect” flushed down the toilet in a twinkle of an eye!
Okay, so, In the Men’s Chamber match in which the winner would go on to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania for the WWE Undisputed Championship Title, Seth Rollins crushed CM Punk’s WrestleMania dream by delivering a Curb Stomp on Punk a few minutes after he was eliminated by Punk. That move aided Cena to apply the STFU on Punk who later passed out causing him to win the Men’s Chamber match.
Prior to Elimination Chamber —to be precise, at the penultimate SmackDown before Elimination Chamber, The Rock a.k.a “The Final Boss” made Cody an unusual offer which is to be The Rock’s “Champion,” and going on to say that he could take Cody to new heights and “make all of Cody’s dreams come true.” And just so Cody doesn’t misunderstand, the Rock explained, “I don’t want your title. I want your soul,” (I’m not gonna lie, when I heard those words I kinda thought that adding “The Soul Collector” to The Rock’s monikers wouldn’t be a bad idea). The Rock out of his benevolence gave Cody time to think about his offer and give him an answer at the Elimination Chamber.
Following Cena’s win, his WrestleMania opponent Cody appeared to congratulate him and also give The Rock a response to his offer and that was when the whole world witnessed what they never, ever imagined would be possible. You know how you always have a “Plan B” just in case your “Plan A” doesn’t work? Well, The Rock had a backup plan. When Cody refused to give his soul to the Rock, John Cena was the happiest. Cena even went ahead to hug Cody for holding on to his morals —that was when the whole world was shocked. At The Rock’s signal, Cena assaulted and beat Cody to a pulp.
And this year was meant to be John Cena’s final year with the WWE. Ending his farewell tour as a heel was never in our bingo card.
