Wednesday Season 2 Teases Pugsley’s Power In Bigger Role

In season 1, some members of the Addams family were featured but they all made very little appearance, including Pugsley Addams —Wednesday’s younger brother.

In 2022, Netflix blessed us with a supernatural comedy series Wednesday. The instant the series hit the streaming platform, it became a global sensation and equally remained at the top of the service’s Global Top 10 ratings for several weeks.

Because of how successful Season 1 was, a second season was immediately approved. Wednesday Season 1 follows Jenna Ortega, who played the titular character Wednesday Addams, to Nevermore Academy. The series saw the ever so savage Wednesday, who’s in no mood to make friends, try her best to balance being an abnormal teenager, and fighting off the monsters invading her school.

In season 1, some members of the Addams family were featured, but they all made very little appearance, including Pugsley Addams, Wednesday’s younger brother. However, in a recent interview with Screen Rant, Isaac Ordonez, who played Pugsley’s character, told the outlet that the upcoming season will feature more of the “devious” Pugsley.

What Are Viewers To Expect From Wednesday Season 2?

According to the actor, fans of the series should get ready to see “a lot more Pugsley this season.” Season 1 featured Pugsley as an emotional and frail character who relies on Wednesday for protection. This season, viewers will be seeing a different Pugsley because not only will he gain his powers, he’ll also matriculate to Nevermore Academy. It is said that Pugsley’s newfound electric power, which is similar to Uncle Fester’s, will make Wednesday respect him more, but it won’t stop Wednesday from using him for her own selfish purposes.

“I really get to mess around with different sides of his character. In season 1, you see his more emotional side, but in this season, I think we get more of his quirky, devious, mischievous side. But we also keep that emotional side. When he gets to Nevermore, he is very lonely. He’s having a hard time making friends, so we do get to see that. I do play around with that,” said Ordonez.

Ordonez added, “I think that now that he has powers, Wednesday has gained a little more respect for him. But she also sees him now as a tool that she can use for her investigations. And if we’re talking about how they are as siblings, I’d say they’re still your average siblings; they’re awkward. That remains the same, because Wednesday doesn’t change [laughs].”

Wednesday 2 — Returning Casts, From Addams Family To Nevermore Academy Students, To The Laws

It’s a well-known fact that there won’t be a Wednesday Season 2 without Jenna Ortega reprising her role as Wednesday Addams. Other Addams family members who’ll reprise their roles are: Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams (Wednesday’s mother), Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams (Wednesday’s father). Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump, Joonas Suotamo as Lurch, and finally Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.

The returning cast of Nevermore Academy includes: Emma Myers as Wednesday’s roommate Enid Sinclair, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin (revealed to be the Hyde during Season 1), Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, Georgie Farmer as Ajax, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Ritchie.

As for those who uphold the laws, Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Sheriff Ritchie Santiago. Season 2 will also feature new casts, and they include: Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Rachael Fairburn, and Heather Matarazzo as Judi (Dr. Fairburn’s right-hand woman).

Wednesday comes from MGM Television and was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who also serve as co-showrunners. Tim Burton executive-produces alongside Steve Stark for Toluca Pictures, Andrew Mittman for 1.21 Entertainment, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman, Gail Berman, Tommy Harper, Kevin Lafferty, and Gough and Millar for their Millar Gough Ink banner. Ortega is also executive producing in Season 2.
