There are some updates to NBC’s comedy line-up!
It was announced that Lopez vs. Lopez has been renewed for a third season, while Reba McEntire’s new comedy, Happy Place, has been ordered for the network.
George Lopez and his real-life daughter Mayan Lopez star in Lopez vs. Lopez, which follows the big life changes for Mayan and the whole Lopez familia while George takes his first step in sobriety. The series reached nearly 10 million total viewers across all platforms and is the highest-indexing broadcast program among English-dominant Hispanic households. It’s produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Mohawk Productions, Travieso Productions, Mi Vida Loba and 3 Arts.
Reba’s new comedy series reunites her with Melissa Peterman and follows “Bobbie (McEntire), who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had”. The series stars Reba McEntire and a diverse cast including Belissa Escobedo (Blue Beetle), Melissa Peterman (Reba), Pablo Castelblanco (Alaska Daily), Tokala Black Elk (Yellowstone) and Rex Linn (CSI: Miami). The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
On the flip side, Extended Family has been cancelled after just one season. It starred Jon Cryer, Abigail Spencer, and Donald Faison. In the series, Jim and Julia, after an amicable divorce, decide to continue to raise their kids at the family home while taking turns on who gets to stay with them. Navigating the waters of divorce and child-sharing gets more complicated for Jim when Trey, the owner of the Boston Celtics, enters the picture and wins Julia’s heart.
