The question on the minds of the WWE Universe when it comes to CM Punk has always been one thing, “What Is CM Punk’s favor?” Now, in case you’re wondering about the favor being talked about, let me give you a quick recap of the origin of this “favor.”
Last year, after Roman Reigns and the Usos (Jimmy and Jey) lost to the now extinct New Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu) in their six-men tag team match at Crown Jewel on November 2, 2024, Solo, who was the then Tribal Chief for the then New Bloodline challenged Roman to get himself four partners willing to team with him to face them (Solo, and his pack of bloodline, comprising of Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu) at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024.
As at the time of the challenge, Roman’s team consisting of the Original Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jimmy and Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn) and Solo’s team needed just one member on each team to complete the compulsory 5 on 5 number for the WarGames. Solo’s team later found a fifth member in the person of Bronson Reed. But then, just when it looked like Roman’s team would never find a fifth member, Paul Heyman appeared at the last minute on the November 22, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown and introduced CM Punk as the fifth and final member of Roman’s team.
The following week on SmackDown which was the final SmackDown before Survivor Series: WarGames, Punk hinted on doing Heyman a favor and Heyman owing him a favor after WarGames. The next day at Survivor Series: WarGames which happened on November 30, 2024, after the men’s WarGames match which saw Roman’s team pick the victory over Solo’s team, Punk walked out of the steel cage structure to greet Paul Heyman who was standing outside. There, Punk was heard telling Paul, “When I need the favour, I’ll come and ask,” while Heyman replied, “It’s yours.”
What Is CM Punk’s Favor?
Of course, Punk’s conversation with Heyman got everyone’s ears itching so, on the December 9 episode of Monday Night Raw, Jackie Redmond sat down with CM Punk and asked him about the favor Paul Heyman owes him. Punk, who didn’t want to divulge anything, simply told Jackie that it is a personal thing, and kept mute about the supposed favor all through 2024.
Anyways, after defeating Seth Rollins at the Premiere of Raw On Netflix which happened on January 6, 2025, Punk focused his attention on Royal Rumble which would be taking place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Lucas Oil Station, Indianapolis, Indiana. To that effect, he officially declared his interest in competing at the Royal Rumble, and went on to hint once again during an interview with Jackie Redmond on the January 20 episode of Monday Night Raw that he will be calling in a favor if the need to do so comes up.
When Will CM Punk Call In The Favor?
Now, with Punk casually bringing up the favor his friend Heyman owes him every now and then, it’s safe to speculate that he might be cashing in on that favor anytime soon. Infact, sooner than expected. In my humble opinion, I feel that Punk would call in that favor after Royal Rumble.
My reasons for this are numerous but walk with me here. There’s a big chance that Punk might not win the Royal Rumble and that Roman Reigns might walk out of the Royal Rumble as the winner. Remember that during the January 10 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Heyman called out Cody Rhodes to tell him that Roman wants his Undisputed WWE Championship title back. In Heyman’s words,
“This is not a prediction; this is a spoiler, Roman Reigns here by declares he is entering the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble with full intentions of winning and going on to WrestleMania to fight you once again for the championship.”
So, let’s assume that Roman actually wins the Rumble, do you think that Punk will willingly let Roman challenge Rhodes for the title? Me thinks that Punk would definitely cash in that favor and who knows, it might not be favourable for Roman. But then again, I might be wrong and very far from the truth because this past Monday Night Raw saw Punk telling Jackie in yet another interview that his favor might not even surround someone close to Heyman.
