One of my favorite studios really brought the heat as Amazon MGM came to play with the big boys. I’ve long said that their projects are super underrated, but this slate proves they are pulling out some big stops over the next 2 years.
Masters of the Universe (Live-Action)
Release Date: June 5, 2026
Amazon MGM unveiled a first-look sizzle reel for Masters of the Universe, with director Travis Knight emphasizing a faithful, practical approach to the beloved ’80s franchise. While plot details remain under wraps, the footage highlighted Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man reaching for the iconic Power Sword, alongside extensive concept art and in-progress set builds.
Costumes for characters like Skeletor (Jared Leto), Evil-Lyn (Alison Brie), Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and The Sorceress (Morena Baccarin) leaned heavily into accurate, toy-inspired designs. The studio positioned the film as one of its biggest 2026 releases, promising a grounded yet epic fantasy experience for longtime fans.

Book adaptations are all the rage right now, and Amazon MGM knows it. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller debuted the first trailer for their adaptation of Andy Weir’s Project Hail Mary. Ryan Gosling stars as an unlikely astronaut tasked with saving Earth after the Sun begins to die. The trailer balances humor and awe, leaning into Gosling’s awkward charm as he’s reluctantly chosen for the mission.
The footage teases sweeping space visuals, a mysterious alien encounter, and a surprising partnership with a creature named Rocky. With ambitious visuals and a blend of comedy and cosmic scale, the film looks poised to be both heartfelt and spectacular.
Verity

As an avid book reader, I was GEEKED about this one! The studio presented a tense teaser for Verity, adapting Colleen Hoover’s bestselling thriller. The story follows Lowen (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer hired to finish a novel for famous author Verity (Anne Hathaway), who has been left mute after an accident. As Lowen becomes entangled in Verity’s marriage to Jeremy (Josh Hartnett), secrets unravel, and paranoia takes hold. The teaser leans into erotic tension and psychological unease, ending on a chilling note that hints at obsession and manipulation.

Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt made a provocative debut at CinemaCon. The film centers on a university shaken by sexual assault allegations against a charismatic professor (Andrew Garfield), with Julia Roberts playing a colleague caught between loyalty and truth. The trailer escalates into moral chaos as accusations ripple through the campus, fueled by power dynamics, race, and generational conflict. Guadagnino’s latest appears designed to challenge audiences and spark uncomfortable conversations.

A high-concept sci-fi thriller, Mercy stars Chris Pratt as a detective accused of killing his wife and interrogated by an AI system played by Rebecca Ferguson. Given 90 minutes to prove his innocence, Pratt’s character must navigate a digital interface that dissects his life in real time.
The footage suggests a tense race against the clock, blending procedural mystery with experimental storytelling. Mercypromises a clever, contained thriller with a technological twist.
Crime 101

Bart Layton’s Crime 101 delivers a star-studded throwback crime thriller. The footage introduces intersecting lives across Los Angeles, including a jewel thief (Chris Hemsworth), a relentless detective (Mark Ruffalo), and a high-stakes broker (Halle Berry).
As alliances shift and motivations clash, tension builds toward an unpredictable heist narrative. The film appears designed as a character-driven ensemble piece with classic crime-movie energy.
