Marvel Studios will be skipping Hall H Panel at this year’s SDCC. This is happening for the 1, 2, 3… 7th time? Let’s give you a brief on what “Hall H” is about. Hall H is Comic-Con‘s main stage typically reserved for the biggest announcements relating to future projects and exclusive first-looks at upcoming movies and shows.
It’s true that the news of Marvel Studios skipping Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con will disappoint so many MCU fans but Marvel Studios have got a strong reason for that. Yes, they’re expected to discuss their upcoming movies Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars but that was before the release dates of these movies were shifted to later dates.
Why Marvel Studios Is Skipping Hall H Panel At SDCC 2025
Avengers: Doomsday was originally scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026 but it’s been shifted to December 18, 2026, and the same goes for Avengers: Secret Wars that got a later date too. If Avengers: Doomsday was to be released in May 2026, SDCC 2025 would have been the best place to build major anticipation of this movie but with the change in the release date, the thinking within the studio is that “it didn’t feel like the right timing for a Hall H panel.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter‘s Heat Vision which first reported the news, “Marvel will still have a major presence at this year’s SDCC, with numerous panels about comics, games and more. And sources tell Heat Vision that it will be a massive footprint in the San Diego Convention Center, with a fully redesigned and immersive booth that leans into the release of Fantastic Four. And there could be some surprises in store, as well.”
Also, with Fantastic Four: First Steps releasing the same weekend as SDCC 2025, there is nothing much for Marvel Studios to tease or divulge before the movie’s debut. Since The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be opening on the Friday of SDCC, Marvel have decided on making the MCU reboot its main focus at the Con.
How Many Times Have Marvel Studios Skipped Hall H?
This is certainly not the first time Marvel Studios eschewed from attending Hall H Panel. In fact, this is the 7th time. All the times Marvel skipped Hall H Panel were always backed up with good reasons. The first three times that the panel was not held were in 2011, 2015, and 2018.
In 2011 the company didn’t have a Hall H panel since they were focused on shooting The Avengers. Similarly in 2015 Marvel didn’t go because they didn’t have footage to share, and in 2018 they skipped because numerous films wrapped production and there was nothing new to announce. Their next absence which came two years in a row was in 2020 and 2021 and it was due to the pandemic. The next one happened in 2023 and it was due to the guild strikes.
