Mia Goth is officially joining the Star Wars universe. The actress, best known for her role in A24’s X trilogy and Horror/Drama film, Pearl, joins Ryan Gosling in Star Wars: Starfighter, the feature film directed by Shawn Levy. The film is set to start production this fall in England with a May 28, 2027 release date.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Goth will be playing an evil pursuer who is after a young charge who Gosling’s character is trying to protect. It was recently revealed that Oscar-winning actress, Mikey Madison, turned down a role in the film which was reportedly a villain.
Goth will appear next in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, starring alongside Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi and a role that has yet to be revealed in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
All About Star Wars: Starfighter
Star Wars: Starfighter was first announced during this year’s Star Wars Celebration event in Japan. Levy revealed that the film is set five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
“There are many rumors, some true, some not…This is not a prequel, this is not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It was a great process. This is no longer a Star Wars movie in development. This is a Star Wars movie we’re making this fall.” – Shawn Levy (Director of Star Wars: Starfighter)
In November 2022, it was reported that Levy was set to direct a Star Wars film after the completion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Deadpool & Wolverine and the fifth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things. By the time Deadpool & Wolverine premiered, Levy confirmed that Jonathan Tropper, who he worked with on The Adam Project, was writing his Star Wars film.
Starfighter was originally intended to be released in December 2027 but with Disney’s updated film release schedule, the film took up the May 2027 slot while Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Secret Wars taking the December date.
