The New ‘Wonder Woman’ Movie Gets New Update

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, DCU’s co-Chief Executive Officer James Gunn revealed that a new Wonder Woman movie is in the process of being developed at DC Studios.

Saddle up! Fans of Princess Diana of Themyscira —or should I say, “Wonder Woman?” Your heroine will soon be back!

It’s been what, five years? Since the last Wonder Woman movie hit the theaters and now it’s been confirmed that a new solo movie about the DC superhero Wonder Woman is in the works. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, DCU’s co-Chief Executive Officer James Gunn revealed that a new Wonder Woman movie is in the process of being developed at DC Studios.

What Do We Expect From The New Wonder Woman?

Gunn told the outlet, “We’re working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman’s being written right now,” before going on to share that the upcoming new Wonder Woman is a “separate thing” from the previously announced Paradise Lost series which is said to take place on the island of Themyscira before the birth of Diana Prince.

The film would be a fresh start for the character, who was played on the big screen by Gal Gadot in 2017’s Wonder Woman and Justice League, 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984, 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and in a cameo in 2023’s The Flash. As for the title of the film and the expected release date, Gunn remained tight-lipped on that matter. How much of it has been written, there’s no saying. Who it’s being written by is also unknown.

However, one thing that is well known is that Gal Gadot will no longer play the character Diana Prince. This isn’t the first time that Gunn has changed the cast for his major characters. He has changed the cast of Superman and Lex Luthor, he even made some actors of his major characters play different roles, for example, Jason Momoa who previously played the Aquaman character was made to play the alien mercenary Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

What DCU Movies Will Be Coming Out, And When?

Prior to the announcement of the new Wonder Woman film, The Superman film, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, is already done and awaiting release in theaters next month. Apart from that, the next Movie in line from the DCU is Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which will be dropping in June 2026. It’s being directed by Craig Gillespie from a script by Ana Nogueira and will star Milly Alcock .

The next to drop is, Clayface — a horror film about the titular Batman villain. This particular movie is set to open in September 2026, from a script written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. It’ll be directed by James Watkins, the director of The Woman in Black. The fourth movie is Dynamic Duo, an animated feature about Batman’s Robin sidekicks Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, set to be released June 2028.

The new Batman’s solo movie that is currently titled The Brave and the Bold is still being developed. There’s no news on the screenwriter penning a script yet, but the movie is said to be based on Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert’s 2006 comic book story arc, “Batman and Son.”
