Witchboard: Trailer Features Jamie Campbell Bower Of Stranger Things

This year’s Witchboard is a remake of Kevin S. Tenney’s 1986 cult classic movie of the same name.

Fans of good ol’ ancient horror movies, gather here for I bring you good news. I’m talking about real, serious, scary, horror movie —the kind that leaves you bedwetting for years, and your bank account empty due to tons of therapy sessions that always leave you in a worse state than you were before leaving your house.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, The Avenue and Atlas Distribution Company announced the arrival of the official trailer for the upcoming supernatural horror thriller Witchboard directed by The Blob, and A Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors director Chuck Russell. This year’s Witchboard is a remake of Kevin S. Tenney’s 1986 cult classic movie of the same name. The screenplay was co-written by Russell and Greg McKay.

In an interview with Bloody Disgusting last year, Russell told the outlet, “I wanted to get back to the horror genre. I’ve been keeping an eye out for that over the course of my career, and I wanted to do something even scarier and more imaginative. I wanted to top my other two horror films.”

“I put everything I hadn’t tried into this film. I hope that fans of my work will recognize my touch. But we have dreams; we have deadly hallucinations. We have body swaps; we have literal time travel. It’s fun in that regard, but number one is to scare the hell out of people, and I think we’ve done that, too.”

What Is Chuck Russell’s Witchboard All About?

The movie follows a soon to be married couple Emily and Christian, who gathered their friends to celebrate their newly opened café. Emily incidentally stumbles on an old artifact that was cursed and housing a vengeful witch that’s hell bent on stealing Emily’s soul. Her fiancé Christian does everything possible to undo what Emily has done and save her from the clutches of the evil witch.

The official synopsis for the film reads:

“In New Orleans, Emily and her fiancé Christian are opening their new dream café. But their dreams are dashed when Emily finds an ancient, cursed Witchboard, an ancient artifact that once served as a gateway to the spirit world. As Emily becomes increasingly captivated by the board’s ability to summon spirits, Christian seeks the expertise of Alexander Babtiste, an enigmatic occult scholar. As Emily’s grip on reality weakens, Babtiste’s true intentions come to light—to use the Witchboard’s dark power for his own twisted purposes.”

The synopsis continues, “Culminating in a decadent masked ball at Babtiste’s mansion, the line between temptation and terror blurs as Emily and Christian find themselves trapped in a deadly web of witchcraft and dark desires. Emily and Christian must race against time to break the board’s curse before they succumb to its deadly power!”
