Horror fans are in for a treat as IT: Welcome to Derry will be floating on over to San Diego Comic-Con later this month. This news was confirmed as the official HBO Max X page associated with the series announced in a tweet.
This SDCC appearance marks the series’ first major public event. With this news, there are more than likely appearances from the cast, exclusive teases and many more.
IT: Welcome to Derry | The Expansion of the IT Universe
IT: Welcome to Derry is a prequel of both 2017’s IT and 2019’s IT Chapter Two. The series will take place in the 1960’s and it will explore the origins of Pennywise the Dancing Clown and the dark legacy of Derry, Maine. Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti are set to executive produce the series with Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane.
The Muschietti sibling duo were also both behind the modern IT film adaptation.
What Fans May Expect From the SDCC 2025 Panel
The panel is set to be on Saturday, July 26 from 9:15 pm to 9:45 pm in Room 6DE. This is where fans will be given an exclusive sneak peek of the premiere episode and a debut of the teaser trailer. As of right now, the Muschietti siblings are set to make their appearance but here’s what else horror hounds and King fans may expect:
- Appearances from cast members
- An insight on how the series will connect to the IT mythology.
- Possible interactive activation (Red balloons, possibly?)
Warner Bros. Television is known for bringing in exciting panels like House of the Dragon and other well-known series. According to SDCC Unofficial Blog, Pennywise-inspired pedicabs will be offering free rides on both Friday (July 25) and Saturday (July 26) during the convention.
When Will ‘It‘ Premiere?
HBO’s IT: Welcome to Derry – Catch the infamously sinister red balloon floating at San Diego Comic-Con 2025.
An exact for the series has yet to be released but the series is set to be released on October of this year. With the teaser trailer becoming imminent this San Diego Comic-Con, this will be an exciting time for fans as this will become one of the biggest updates fans will receive since the series was first announced.
