The New York Film Festival played host to one of its most buzzed-about surprises yet on Monday night as A24 unveiled a secret screening of Marty Supreme at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. Written and directed by Josh Safdie, the film stars Timothée Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, and Tyler Okonma, drawing an electric crowd eager for a first glimpse at Safdie’s latest cinematic venture.

The event, which had been teased only as an unannounced “special screening,” turned out to be the long-rumored Safdie-Chalamet collaboration — their first since Uncut Gems (a full-blown anxiety attack on screen) catapulted Safdie’s name into the mainstream. Following the screening, cast and crew joined attendees for an intimate after-party at the Waverly Inn in Manhattan’s West Village.
In attendance were writer-director Josh Safdie, co-writer and producer Ronald Bronstein, producers Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas, production designer Jack Fisk, costume designer Miyako Bellizzi, and composer Daniel Lopatin. Sound designer Skip Lievsay also appeared, rounding out a crew that reads like a who’s who of modern arthouse filmmaking.
Chalamet plays Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one believes in, who is in pursuit of greatness. The film’s premise is fairly unknown, but it suggests a high-energy and emotionally charged story that we’ve come to expect from Safdie.
Chalamet, who also serves as a producer on the project, appeared alongside his co-stars. The chemistry among the ensemble can be described as a mix of Oscar winners, rising stars, and cultural icons, and is already generating strong awards-season chatter.
Marty Supreme marks Safdie’s return to feature filmmaking after several years of anticipation. With a creative team that includes longtime collaborators and fresh talent, the film appears to continue A24’s streak of fan favorite releases.
Marty Supreme opens in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day

I'm a big movie buff that also loves NFL football. Interviewing talent associated with films is one of my favorite things to do as there is nothing more special then diving into a project with the people who made them happen.
