I am so here for dolls taking over the horror genre by offering a fresh idea that strays from the typical serial killers wielding a knife. Independent Film Company and Shudder bring us Dolly, a gritty new horror feature from filmmaker Rod Blackhurst that leans hard into woodland terror. The studio has released the film’s official trailer and first look photos, offering a chilling glimpse at a story that twists the familiar comfort of childhood dolls into something deeply unsettling. DOLLY is set to arrive exclusively in theaters on March 6.
Directed, co-written, and produced by Blackhurst (Night Swim, Amanda Knox, and Here Alone), the film stars Fabianne Therese, Seann William Scott, Ethan Suplee, and professional wrestler Max the Impaler. A scary flick is only as good as the dangerous setting and the threat that lurks within its shadows.
Dolls may begin as innocent companions, often among a child’s first toys, but pop culture has long shed light on their darker potential. It’s no secret that dolls have become horror icons, thanks to films like Child’s Play, Annabelle, and M3GAN. Dolly enters that legacy with a fresh, feral edge, trading polished scares for something more visceral and unhinged.

The trailer introduces Macy (Therese) and Chase (Scott), a pair seeking solace in nature as they wander through a remote forest. Their peaceful escape quickly turns into terror when they discover dolls eerily hanging from trees, warning any sane person to get OUT. Soon, they’re ambushed by a deranged figure wearing a doll mask, transforming a quiet hike into a fight for survival.
Early reactions suggest Dolly doesn’t hold back, as Daily Dead calls it “violent, bloody, and a hell of a lot of fun,” with outlets praising its tone and intensity from when it premiered at Fantastic Fest. Horror Buzz adds to the hype, calling it a “cruel, unhinged movie.”
Moviegoers are eager for new and original ideas, especially in the horror genre, which is commonly known to be repetitive, with anticipated jump scares that we can see coming a mile away. With that being said, Dolly is sure to be a hit with fans within this niche.
Dolly hits theaters on March 6th. Watch the trailer here.

I'm a big movie buff that also loves NFL football. Interviewing talent associated with films is one of my favorite things to do as there is nothing more special then diving into a project with the people who made them happen.
