Ana Huang’s romance novel Twisted Love and it’s sequels are set to be adapted as a television series on Netflix with a seven-figure option deal. The project is currently under development and there has been no cast attached to the series but according to the logline, it is going to be “a steamy new adult series that follows the lives of four best friends and their brooding love interests, riddled with dark secrets from their pasts, as they overcome the obstacles keeping them apart to fall in love.”
The Twisted adaptation will become the latest in the book-to-screen titles at Netflix which has become a very popular genre as they have received massive successes with Bridgerton and Virgin River.
The Twisted Series Fanfare
Social media has become a popular tool when it comes to making certain topics and people popular. When it comes to the Twisted franchise, it became popular with the reader-centric BookTok community where #twistedseries has crossed over 2 billion views.
During the 2019 COVID-19 pandemic, Huang began writing and self-publishing novels and promoting them on TikTok. The Twisted series went viral which led to publishing company Bloom Books to republish and release the series in 2022. The series includes Twisted Love, Twisted Games, Twisted Hate and Twisted Lies. They have sold more than 12 million copies and spent 60 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.
Besides the popular series, Huang has published 13 books across four series and has sold more than 18 million copies of her novels. Her most recent work was released in October 2024 called The Striker. She has confirmed to publish two new books this year which are King of Envy (April) and The Defender (October).
There has been no official confirmation of when the series is set to be released on the streaming platform.
