Starring Jonathan Bailey, Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, the film is expected to release in theaters on July 2. The film takes place five years after the events in Jurassic World: Dominion (2022) where the planet becomes inhospitable for dinosaurs which leads a team of scientists to acquire genetic samples from three of the largest dinosaurs in the sea, land and in the air. The trailer is currently trending #3 on YouTube and with any amazing trailer, there are hidden details that many viewers might’ve missed. Here are just a few little details you might have missed during your first watch of the trailer.
The Rancor-monster Dinosaur
One of the takeaways of the Jurassic World Rebirth trailer was the terrifying reveal of the mutant-dinosaur monster. If you thought the T-Rex was scary, this creature can ultimately become your worst nightmare. According to producer Frank Marshall, he hinted to Vanity Fair that the creature’s mutation was based on failed dinosaur experiments.
The creature was most likely a mixture of different dinosaur species. The large domed head and the heavily built form shows the audience that this was definitely an experiment gone wrong. If not contained properly, this creature can definitely become the king of all kings, making it one of the most terrifying species we have seen in the Jurassic World/Jurassic Park fandom.
Jurassic World: Rebirth Takes Places in a Different Location
In the Jurassic Park films, there are two locations that have been introduced with the dinosaurs occupying the space, which were Isla Nublar, the main location where the park was created, and Isla Sorna, the main location where the genetic research was taking place. In the trailer, Duncan Kincaid (played by Mahershala Ali) shows a plan to go to the mysterious new island. They must travel up to Barbados and if you look at a map, the original islands were located west of Costa Rica in the pacific Ocean while Barbados is located east.
This shows us that wherever this island is, it isn’t part of the original islands we have come to know.
The Spinosaurus is Back!
The Spinosaurus is a faster and more aggressive creature who ruled over the T-Rex in Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. This creature, just like the new Rancor creature, was part of many experiments. It became one of the few dinosaurs that was cloned in the Embryonics Administration lab.
As soon as the creature was set out to the wild, it became the largest carnivorous dinosaur on Isla Sorna. It is unknown if the Spinosaurus was affected by ir bred to include the lysine deficiency that affected the original dinosaurs but now that we know that the creature will be making its return once again, fans can excitedly expect this creature to make their appearance for a bit in the film.
A Call-Back to the T. Rex Skeleton and Banner
To Jurassic Park fans, the shot at the beginning of the trailer is a huge nod to the iconic scene of the first Jurassic Park film. The scene includes a T. Rex skeleton in a museum with a banner falling behind it that reads “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth.” In the first film. The T. Rex savagely attacks a pair of Velocirpators in the lobby of the park’s visitor center, saving the main characters. The iconic moment when the banner falls and the T. Rex roars in dominance is one of the most memorable experiences in cinematic history. In Jurassic World Rebirth, it looks like a dinosaur museum will be closing their doors since many have lost interest in the creatures.
Jurassic World Rebirth will be the seventh entry in the dino-centric series. The film is directed by Gareth Edwards and screenplayed by David Koepp.
