When it comes to watching crime/action/thriller movies, I don’t think anything comes close to the excitement that comes with it. It’s natural with movies of this genre, nothing beats the adrenaline that rushes through your veins when the suspense kicks in and leaves you on your toes as you wonder what happens next while questions like ‘will he be caught?,’ and ‘can he really pull it off without being caught?’ keeps going through your mind.
Lovers of John Travolta from his days of Face/Off should saddle up for his next project High Rollers which is said to be a sequel to the 2024 Crime/Thriller movie Cash Out. Just like he did in Cash Out, Travolta will reprise his role of criminal Mason Goddard but this time around, he’ll be starring alongside his Face/Off co-star Gina Gershon. The trailer for the film which was written by Chris Siverston and directed by Randall Emmett was recently released by Saban Films on YouTube.
What ‘High Rollers‘ Trailer Is About
The one minute, forty-six seconds clip began with Travolta’s Mason in what looks like a storage room when his phone rang. With Travolta’s back turned, the caller’s voice was heard saying “Hello, Mason,” while Mason replied: “Salza.” The caller who is then featured pacing back and forth in a room with an artwork of Marilyn Monroe continued, “Your reputation as an international fugitive is very well earned.”
Mason who cut him off said, “Now let me guess, you want us to do a job, what if I told you No?” As Mason was speaking over the phone, the caller was shown sipping wine in a wine glass, and the next scene that was featured was a burning ship in the middle of an ocean, with an explosion sound. The caller continued, “Then I will tell you you’ll never see Decker again.”
You can watch the rest of the clip below.
The film’s official synopsis reads:
“Master thief Mason (John Travolta) is living the criminal’s dream: island-hopping with his crew and the love of his life, Decker (Gina Gershon), while floating on a sea of stolen cash. But his dream is shattered when his nemesis, the ruthless Salazar, kidnaps Decker and forces Mason and his crew to attempt a near-impossible casino heist in exchange for her return. Hedged in by Salazar’s equally ruthless rivals, and with the FBI on his tail, Mason gambles everything in pursuit of both the big score and the ultimate jackpot: Decker’s life.”
The rest of the cast sees a mix of new and old faces to the franchise. Emily Watson reprises her role as bank security analyst Hannah Pierce, while new recruits include Taye Diggs, and Fast & Furious alum, Michelle Rodriguez, taking on the part of a mysterious arms dealer whose motives and loyalties are yet to be revealed.
High Rollers also stars Lukas Haas (Inception) and rapper/actor Quavo —both also starred in Cash Out, as part of Travolta’s team of criminals. The movie hits theaters on March 14.
Travolta is notable for starring in these films: 2019’s The Fanatic, 2022’s Paradise City, and 2023’s Mob Land. Prior to that, he was in movies such as 1977’s Saturday Night Fever, 1978’s Grease, 1980’s Urban Cowboy, 1994’s Pulp Fiction, 1996’s Phenomenon, 1996’s Broken Arrow, 2007’s Hairspray, and more.
