When a veteran comedian like Eddie Murphy, a former SNL Comedian like Pete Davidson, and a cake icing like Keke Palmer comes together to make a movie, best believe a one time cure for depression will be made.
Not so long ago, Amazon MGM Studios shared a release date for the upcoming comedy/action movie The Pickup starring Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson, and Keke Palmer. The movie which was written by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider is being helmed by famous filmmaker Tim Story.
The Pickup — Synopsis And Release Date
The official synopsis for The Pickup reads:
“In the action-comedy The Pickup, a routine cash pickup takes a wild turn when two mismatched armored truck drivers, Russell (Eddie Murphy) and Travis (Pete Davidson), are ambushed by ruthless criminals led by a savvy mastermind, Zoe (Keke Palmer), with plans that go way beyond the cash cargo. As chaos unfolds around them, the unlikely duo must navigate high-risk danger, clashing personalities, and one very bad day that keeps getting worse.”
The Pickup will be released globally on Amazon Prime Video on August 6, 2025. A bunch of first-look images of the action comedy movie, as well as a poster, have been released as well.
The Pickup — Who Are The Casts & Crews?
Aside from Murphy, Davidson, and Palmer, the cast of the movie further includes: Eva Longoria, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Jack Kesy, Andrew Dice Clay, Marshawn Lynch, and Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i. John David, John Fox, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster joined hands with Murphy and Story to co-produce the film.
Keke Palmer, is well known for playing Akeelah in the famous 2006 film Akeelah and the Bee. She’s also featured in Rags, (2012), Joyful Noise (2012), Jump In (2007), Alice (2022), and Nope (2022).
Pete Davidson on the other hand has appeared in Big Time Adolescence (2019), The Suicide Squad (2021), Bodies, Bodies, Bodies (2022), Bupkis (2023), and Riff Raff (2024).
As for Eddie Murphy, he’s known for his works in Coming To America (1988), Dr. Do Little (1995), Daddy Day Care (2003), Coming To America (2021), and he’ll go on to reprise Donkey in Shrek (2026).
Tim Story’s filmography includes: Barbershop (2002), the two live-action Fantastic Four movies that were released in the 2000s: Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). Think Like a Man (2012), Ride Along (2014), Shaft (2019), Tom & Jerry (2021), and The Blackening (2002). His most recent movie was the 2023 Christmas comedy Dashing Through the Snow.
