‘Masters of the Universe’: Nicholas Galitzine Wraps Filming on Live-Action He-Man Film

Filming for ‘Masters of the Universe’ has officially concluded, according to leading star, Nicholas Galitzine.

The upcoming Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel live-action film has officially wrapped production, according to He-Man himself, Nicholas Galitzine. The actor took to his Instagram, showing a silhouette photo of himself in full He-Man gear with the caption:

“Well, that’s a wrap on Masters of the Universe. It has been an honor shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He Man. It’s been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it. There’s not much I can show you, but I am so proud of the movie we’ve made. Thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all your hard work.”

He-Man Origins

The character is a superhero and the protagonist of the Masters of the Universe franchise. This included a toy line, a few animated television series, comic books and a feature film. It was created by Mark Taylor, who based the character on his childhood drawings. With the pitch of the character being brought to Mattel designer Roger Sweet, there were many different concepts of the hero.

The character became popular after the television series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe hit the small screen in the 1980s, gaining 9 million viewers in its first year in the US. The series was broadcasted to at least 37 countries.

He-Man possesses super speed, heightened agility with superhuman strength and endurances. He’s able to lift mountains and icebergs, which results in those objects being hurled to certain evil targets. His primary weapon is his sword while battling his foes. He’s also seen using a laser-gun, a battle axe, a shield, and other equipment, including vehicles.

Who Are Set To Be in the Live-Action Film?

Alongside Galitzine, the film will star Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Mat-at-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto.

The film will be directed by Travis Knight with script writer Chris Butler  joining after drafts were written by David Callahan and Aaron and Adam Nee. Producers in the film include Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner, Escape Artists Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch.

Jared Leto in Morbius

Galitzine bulked up for the role and according to Jóhannesson, Galitzine hasn’t shown everything yet. “He is looking like a beast. He’s not showing you everything.”

The film is set for release worldwide theatrically on June 5, 2026.
