We’re officially one month away from the release of Matrix: Resurrections. Warner Bros gave us some new content from the highly anticipated fourth installment of the game-changing franchise. Eight character posters were plastered online, including returning vets Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Morpheus.
While we’re excited to continue down the rabbit hole, the absence of a certain someone is definitely felt. Laurence Fishburne is notably left out, which caused quite a stir. The actor recently told Vulture, “I have not been invited… I wish them well. I hope it’s great.” Many found this rather shocking and odd seeing how Fishburne’s character was a vital part of the triology. His chemistry with Neo was strong which arguiably contributed to the films’ likability and story.
Abdul-Mateen has big shoes to fill and I’m pretty confident he can bring something great to the film. If he looks familiar, it’s because he portrayed Black Manta opposite Jason Mamoa in Aquaman and the title role in Nia DaCosta‘s Candyman.
Each of the character posters below feature a colorful take on the famous Matrix coding. Matrix: Ressurections hits theaters December 22nd.
