Spaceballs: The New One is preparing to hit San Diego Comic-Con next week. The cast and filmmakers behind the long-awaited Spaceballs sequel will land in Hall H on Friday, July 24 at 4:00 p.m., giving fans their first real look at the follow-up to Mel Brooks’ 1987 cult classic. And remember: please keep your Schwartz inside the convention center at all times.
If you’ve been tracking every scrap of news on this one, you already know we’ve been covering the road to SDCC closely, and this panel is shaping up to be one of the weekend’s biggest draws.
The official synopsis reads: Somehow, Dark Helmet has returned. Forty years after the events of the first Spaceballs, fifty years after Star Wars: A New Hope, and one year after The Devil Wears Prada 2, the galaxy is once again under threat — a threat so evil, so unstoppable, and so completely lacking in original ideas that it has vowed to bring back the past, every last bit of it.
The cast reads like a genuine passing of the torch: original stars Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, George Wyner, and Daphne Zuniga return alongside Mel Brooks himself, joined by newcomers Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, and Anthony Carrigan. Josh Greenbaum directs from a script by Gad, Dan Hernandez, and Benji Samit, based on characters created by Brooks, Thomas Meehan, and Ronny Graham. Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, Brooks, Gad, Greenbaum, and Kevin Salter produce, with Adam Merims, Samit, and Hernandez serving as executive producers.
Full cast, crew, and production credits are already up on IMDb for anyone who wants to dig deeper before the panel.
We’ll have full coverage of the Hall H panel as soon as the doors open, plus our take on whatever footage drops. In the meantime, catch up on our complete Spaceballs: The New One hub for everything we know so far.
Mark your calendars for Friday, July 24 at 4:00 p.m. — and may the Schwartz be with you.
